Welcome to the Leapwork quick launch program!

This program is designed to help you automate your test processes quickly and cost-effectively. By leveraging Leapwork’s tools and resources, you’ll gain the foundational skills needed to automate low- to medium-complexity test cases and build a sustainable approach to test automation.

Through training modules, structured exercises, and guided web sessions, the program is tailored for teams ready to begin their automation journey and expand their experience with test automation.

Program goals

Program approach

This program will guide you through a four-phased approach to build your self-sufficiency and achieve your first test flows using Leapwork. The phases are:

  1. Program Kick-Off – Will include program overview, and verify the guided session schedule, walkthrough the Application Under Test (AUT), walkthrough selected 1-3 medium to low priority / complexity test cases, confirm installation and training with exercises has been completed by all participating in the Quick Launch program.
  2. Leapwork Installation – Support your IT administrators in independently installing and configuring Leapwork in your environment.
  3. Self-Paced Training – Complete the required self-paced training modules and associated exercises in your environment. If you find you need more training to be ready for Session 1 or afterwards, we also offer instructor-led training sessions.
  4. Guided Sessions – A series of five sessions facilitated by a Leapwork automation consultant, covering:
    • Session 1: Review of test flows from self-paced exercises to assess understanding of Leapwork concepts; time permitting, work on your test cases.
    • Session 2: Introduction to creating a Leapwork framework skeleton and a walkthrough of the Leapwork F&O pre-built framework as an illustrative example; additional guidance on your test cases as time allows.
    • Session 3: Triage and debugging techniques; apply to your test cases as time allows.
    • Session 4: Test Data Management; apply to your test cases as time allows.
    • Session 5: Run List & Scheduling, Monitoring, and Reporting; apply to your test cases as time allows.

Phase 1: Kick off & planning

Goal

Align the collective teams of the goals, participants and details of the program.

Identify and validate your Quick launch program goals

Consider starting with basic foundational goals and move towards more advanced goals. Examples could include:

Test cases

We advise that you inventory and priority your test cases along with assignment of complexity. These attributes will help you to organize and sequence your test automation journey.

Sample Complexity definition below. Further categorize these test cases by complexity based on the number of test and validations steps:

Tip: Start with 2 to 5 of the low to medium test cases and work your way to the more complex ones as you progress through the program.

Training guidance

It is mandatory to choose at least one technology basis your target application under test (AUT) and technology stack from the following:
Web Desktop Virtual

Designed for advanced users requiring DevOps integrations, API handling, and best practices.

  1. Module 1: Introduction to Leapwork and web, desktop, virtual automation.
    • Introduction to Leapwork tool and initiating the automation journey with it.
  2. Module 2: Advanced web, desktop, virtual automation training
    • Advanced concepts of automation and making your automation flows to handle dynamic fields.
  3. Module 3: Data-handling and data-driven automation
    • Covers core data handling, manipulation skills, and data-driven automation techniques required for all types of applications. This module is essential to scale up your automation efforts efficiently.
  4. Module 4: Leapwork administration, monitoring and control
    • Advanced concepts of automation and making your automation flows to handle dynamic fields.
  5. Module 5: Best practices, integrations and test cycle review
    • Designed for advanced users requiring DevOps integrations, API handling, and best practices.

Phase 2: Leapwork installation

Goal

Set up Leapwork components and integrate with the cloud.

Checklist

These tasks should take approximately 4 hours to complete

Phase 3: Self-paced training

Goal

Complete the required self-paced training modules and complete the associated exercises in your environment. We highly recommend that the exercises are completed using your identified test cases.

Checklist

These training tasks should take approximately 24.0 to 60.0 hours to complete, depending upon the training topic areas taken.
