Start Web Browser Block Fails When Using Extensions Without Selenium Enabled

Introduction

If you're trying to use the Start Web Browser block with Extensions enabled but Selenium left unchecked, you might be facing an error: " Chrome extension host service could not be started" as highlighted in the image below:

In this article, you will learn how to configure the Start options field when you’re trying to launch Chrome without Selenium in Leapwork and avoid errors. When the Selenium checkbox is unchecked, and you're using extensions, you need to add the following details in the Start options field:

--disable-features=DisableLoadExtensionCommandLineSwitch

Steps:

  1. Drag in the Start Web Browser block.

  2. Select Chrome as the browser.

  3. Expand Start web browser block and uncheck the Selenium checkbox.

  4. Paste the above highlighted details into the Start options field.

This will ensure that Chrome allows the Leapwork extension to load properly without any challenges.
