No Browser window is open while using Leapwork extension in Edge.

Introduction

There are two ways by which we can do Automation using Leapwork.

  1. Using selenium – Check the selenium option from the start browser block.

  2. Using Leapwork Extension in Edge browser – We do not need to check the selenium option.

While using Leapwork extension in Edge browser, you may get “No browser window is open, so navigation cannot continue”.

After MS Edge browser is closed, there are many background processes, where the MS Edge browser try to communicate with Leapwork Extensions. However, due to this unwanted communication between Leapwork Extensions and MS Edge browser processes, you get No Browser Window error messages.

Solution

MS Edge browser has a toggle switch named as Startup Boost under Settings > System and performance, which is enabled by default. You should disable this toggle switch before using Leapwork with Extensions for better outcome.

Disable Startup Boost

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Select System and performance.

  3. Disable the toggle button.

If you disable the toggle switch, all the MS Edge browser background processes will also forcibly close on closing the MS Edge browser. No communication will happen with Leapwork Extensions.
