# How to upgrade from Trial to Platform Edition?

**Leapwork's Trial version** has all the features that are available in the licensed version (**Platform and Enterprise edition**) and is available to real-time users to try and test the product for initial analysis and requirement fitment. Once the trial period elapses and the user wants to migrate to the licensed version and specifically to the Platform edition, also wants to utilize the assets created during the trial period, the following steps need to be followed.

_Due to the difference in the Database structure of the Trial version and Platform version, direct migration is not possible from the Trial to the Platform version, however, it is possible to do the same from the Trial to the Enterprise edition._

### What is an alternative solution?

Utilizing the export option for all the desired flows from the Studio of the Trial version and further importing the same on the Platform version, users can retain the flows that they created during the trial period.

### What can be migrated?

All Flows and Sub-Flows created on the Trial version.

**Note:** SAP flows created in the trial version cannot be utilized in Platform version, as SAP automation is an Enterprise version feature only.

### What can not be migrated?

Run lists, Schedules, Execution results (Reporting), Dashboards, to name a few.

### How to do it?

1. On the trial version - Open Studio and Export all flow (excluding the SAP flows/or the flows that contain SAP blocks). 2. Navigate to the controller settings on the studio, right-click and copy the DB Encryption and close the Studio.
3. Press the Win + R keys on your keyboard, to open the Run window. Then, type "services.msc" and hit Enter or press OK. The services app window will open. Find the Leapwork Controller Service, stop the same, and take [Backup of Database Assets](https://support.leapwork.com/s/article/BestPracticesLeapworkdatabasebackupforTrialPlatformversion63306fd83c636).
4. Uninstall Leapwork, Remove the database files from the Leapwork installation location (default location- _C:\Program Files\Leapwork_)
5. Launch the Windows registry. Click **Start**, click **Run** and enter **regedit**, click **OK.**  
6. Navigate to the path- _Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\LEAPWORK_ and remove the Leapwork registry folder from the registry editor.

8. Import the already exported flows (click [here](https://support.leapwork.com/s/article/HowtoExportandImportautomationflows63307ce385193) to know how to import).
