How to speed up Leapwork performance and reduce memory usage?
Introduction
Leapwork consist of all test artifacts such as test case, result videos, logs etc. Holding these assets my lead to high Disk space and RAM usage thereby reducing the performance in user's machine.
Optimize Performance
There are a few tips that will optimize loading time and performance.
Optimized Retention policies in Studio settings.
The default number of runs to keep is 500, but lowering their number will speed up the loading process. If you need old runs you can manually save the automation runs in some other location on your PC and bring them back to AutomationRuns folder in your project when you need to review the old reports again. Make sure success videos are deleted after 1 hour so that disk space can be saved.Fewer open cases.
Save and close the flows that are not required by closing their respective tabs.Less open reports.
Close any unnecessary open reports by closing their respective tabs.Permanent Deletion of Version History in Leapwork
With the current release (2024.2.32), admins now have the ability to permanently delete flow version histories directly from the GUI. This feature enhances database management and improves performance by removing outdated or obsolete data from the system.
New Delete Options in Version History Panel:
Archive:
- Effect: The selected flow version is hidden from the Studio, but it is still retained in the database for future reference.
Permanent Delete:
- Effect: The selected flow version is permanently deleted from both the Studio and the database, making it irrecoverable. This option allows for complete removal, optimizing storage.
By offering both options, Leapwork allows admins to manage flow histories based on their specific needs—either archiving them for reference or deleting them completely to save space.
