How to integrate Leapwork Reporting with Tableau
Leapwork provides the reporting and dashboards experiences as an inbuilt property where users can visualize the different results of the test flow execution based upon the custom conditions defined as filter by and group by criteria.
Though some users heavily rely on third-party tools like Tableau for analytics purposes as a part of their existing frameworks and want to perform analytics around the automation flows executed in Leapwork through these tools itself.
Leapwork empowers its users to use its capabilities to integrate it with Tableau for more intuitive analytics for the automation test flows execution.
To do so, please follow the below steps:
Go to Leapwork Studio and navigate to the Reporting section.
Create your customized reports based upon the filter criteria and export them into Excel format by clicking on export as shown in the screenshot below:
After exporting the report into Excel format, open the exported Excel file and format it into a table as shown below:
After formatting of the table is completed, save the Excel file.
Open the Tableau desktop application, and import the Excel from Leapwork by clicking on the Excel option as shown in the screenshot below:
After Tableau is connected successfully to the Excel data source, the Excel sheet data will be visible in the Tableau instance. To start with the intuitive visualization, double-click on the worksheet as highlighted in the screenshot below:
After the sheet is open, a window will appear, where intuitive analytics will be performed based on the filter criteria in terms of rows and columns through a drag-and-drop process.
In Tableau, the data from the source is presented in the form of dimensions (independent variables) and measures (variables dependent on the dimensions) as highlighted in the screenshot below:
Note: These dimensions and measures are automatically picked by Tableau based on the columns and their values.
Users need to select the dimension and measures in the form of columns and rows which act as coordinates for the visual representation of the graph/charts. Also, in Tableau, based upon the dimension and corresponding measures used, it automatically picks and suggests the graph which best suits that condition for the representation.
In this way, Leapwork users can empower themselves to perform data analytics in a more intuitive form by creating different layouts based on different filter criteria specific to Tableau as shown below:
