# Configuring an SAP instance for automation use with Leapwork

From generating master data to verifying cross-application processes, Leapwork comes with built-in capabilities ideal for SAP automation.

With the Leapwork Automation Platform, organizations do not have to worry about the highly technical know-how required by other SAP automation providers.

Below steps show how we create a connection to an active instance of SAP in a machine which already has SAP installed. And then consume the same connection in Leapwork block to initiate the SAP via automation

## Configure a SAP Instance

**Step 1**. Install SAP on your machine.

**Step 2.** Open the SAP application.

**Step 3**. Click on **New Item** and then on **Connection.**

A new window will be opened as shown below.

**Step 4**. Double click on the **User Specified System**. A new window will be opened.

**Step 6.** Fill in all the details and click the **Next** button.

**Step 7.** Click the **Next** button.

**Step 8.** Select **Language** and click the **Finish** button.

**Step 9**. As we click the **Finish** button, we can see our instance created.

## Flow to Start and End an SAP Instance

Use the name mentioned in the description above, in the **Connection** **name** input box of the **Start SAP** block in Leapwork.
